Die Pfalz is a word from which New Platz originated.

The historic marker  about Die Pfaz is located where North Front  Street meets Huguenot Street in New Paltz.  Right behind the monument you will find the Jean Hasbrouck House  one of the historic houses to be found on Huguenot Street
